The
CONVAL Steam Whisperjet takes the high pressure steam flow and
directs it through a series of multi-pressure reduction stages
called WHISPERJETS. Each whisperjet section has four or six orifices
around it's perimeter. The orifices discharge inwardly which reduces
the steam pressure without causing component wear. These WHISPERJETS
are designed to reduce the pressure in stages and to prevent a
critical pressure drop from occuring, thus minimizing erosion
of other system components. Each Whisperjet section is progressively
larger, allowing the steam to expand. The holes are sized to keep
the flow of the steam below critical velocities. This gives the
advantage of reduced noise.
